Thanks!

I know I keep repeating myself about this but I cannot say enough about how psyched I am about this project! The list keeps growing and growing, since I originally posted it last night, I've added 9 more people today! Thanks so much for your support!

Very soon I will be posting some information here about ad space in the book. To help off set the production costs, I'm going to be selling half and full page ads. There will be more details posted when I've worked them out.

More names!

I cannot say enough how overwhelmed I have been by the response to the project. I believe, with the talent we've got so far, this project is going to be great! I envision people buying it, holding onto it and bringing it with them to cons to search out the artists who contributed to it. It'll become an "autograph" book that they can save for a long time! Here are a few more people who have joined the project:

James Kyle
Joe Pekar (Hot Inks)
Ryan Cody (Hurricane Kids)
Rob Jones (Perfect Storm-Harbor Comics)
Ben Jones
Jeremy Treece (Hero @ Large-Speakeasy Comics)

Very soon, I'll be putting together a master list, with links to the artists' website. Then I'll add names to that list weekly to keep it up dated.

some more thanks!

I just wanted to add another post, because we've had some more people jump onboard the project since I posted this morning! First off, John from Equal Footing Magazine, a great mag dedicated to small press creators and their work, has offered any help he can including promo space on his website and in the mag. John's a pretty good artist himself, I'm hoping he finds a little time to add a pic of his own to the mix! Visit John's website at:
http://efzine.com/

I also got a pic today from an artist named Miguel Ruiz. Miguel heard about the project through Randy's deviantART site and decided he wanted to join in. Thanks Miguel! I've also had 2 inkers jump in and offer their services, Gary "dubs" Mitchell, who's work can be seen in RIP and Arcadia, both from Portal Productions and Todd "Short Boy" Swain, who's work can be seen in Alias Comics 10th Muse and Legend of Isis as well as Portal Productions' RIP. Thanks guys, you're the best!

Thanks so much!

In the first 3 days I've had this site up to tell people about this project, the response has been tremendous! So far 15 people have told me they are interested in helping out. They are:

Gabe Bridwell (Noble Causes-Image Comics)
Jason Bullock (GIRAF Network)
John DaCosta (Metro-Infinity Uprising)
Ben Dale (Bio Boy-Speakeasy Comics)
Eric Dotson (Dreamer-Portal Productions)
Chris Flick (csf graphics)
Trin Gutierrez (Ronin Studios)
Randy "Rantz" Kintz (RIP-Repercussion Comics, Arcadia-Portal Productions)
Andy Krahanke (Zombiekiller-Darkhorse)
Chris Lie (GI Joe Arashikage Showdown, GI Joe Sigma Six-Devil's Due)
Randy Parker (Highburn Studios)
Lyle Pollard (Highburn Studios)
Dawid Strauss (Gene Gardens, Gene Gardens: Hero Seed-King Tractor Press)
Manny Trembley (Panda Express-PX!)
Brian Wentworth (Joe Kubert School)

Let's keep adding to the list!

Any inkers out there who want participate, I'm getting questions and submissions from pencillers who need their pieces inked. If you want to help out and have a little time, e-mail me at: autismproject@gmail.com and I'll send you a piece that needs inking! Just like the pencillers, make sure you send me your name, current projects, website, etc... so you can get the credit you deserve!

thanks!

I'm an artist, how can I get involved?

If you are an artist and would like to be involved, here's how you do it. The theme is robots. Use your imagination and create a standard comic book size (6.5 x 10) pencilled and inked black and white pic of a robot. Send a high rez (300 dpi) copy of the pic to my email at:

autismproject@gmail.com

Be sure to include all your relevant info, name, what you're working on, website, etc... as all that info will be printed on the page with your image.

I do not need the originals, however, if you would like to also donate your signed original, when the project is completed, I will be auctioning off a copy of the book, along with all the signed pics I collect and donating the money to the A.S.A. as well. E-mail me and I'll give you my mailing address.

Thanks!

Welcome!

Hi there! Welcome to the official home of my autism project. Let me tell you a little about myself, what I'm trying to do and why I'm doing it.

My name is Nic Carcieri. I am the writer/co-creator of Portal Productions' comic book RIP from Repercussion Comics. I live in the metro-Atlanta area and have a 4 1/2 year old son named Ben. Ben has been diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Delay (PDD) which is part of the autism spectrum.

What is autism?

According to the Autism Society of America's website, autism is described as;

Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically
appears during the first three years of life and is the result of
a neurological disorder that affects the normal functioning of
the brain, impacting development in the areas of social inter-
action and communication skills. Both children and adults with
autism typically show difficulties in verbal and non-verbal
communication, social interactions and leisure or play activities.
What I am doing is putting together a project to raise money for the Autism Society of America. I'm creating a sketch book of artwork donated by many of the friends I've made in the comics industry. The book is going to contain pieces from many artists, both small press and mainstream. The theme of the book is going to be robots. Each participating artist will use his or her imagination in creating a robot.
The end results should be some fantastic artwork!
I will be updating this blogsite many times as the project continues, letting you all know the progress, who's involved and when it's done, how you can get it!
If you have any questions or want to get involved, e-mail me at:
Thanks a lot!
